(Somewhere I have never travelled – beyond any experience – e.e. cummings)
I will travel to that foreign country
That is you
I will set down my roots there
Precariously
I will accustom myself
To the strangeness
That is you
I will leave behind the ties
And the comfort that is warm
I will leave behind
The reassuring
I will step out
Into you my foreign country
And learn your customs
And teach you mine
I may become a stranger
To the things I knew before
I may lose
I may find
But I will cross over the frontier
Without looking back
I will move into the newness
Into you, around you, beyond you
Into the darkness
Or into the light
But I will go there.
